Honesty Bar

Our house is also your home.  So when you stay with us we want you to feel fully at home. Our bar, stocked with quality Cornish wines & ales & much more, is yours to enjoy. Just fill in the sheet on the bar with your name and room name, and list everything you’ve had, and go ahead and help yourself. We will do the rest, even clear up afterwards. What could be better?

For your enjoyment, we offer an extensive range of local Cornish drinks and recognisable brands all stocked on our honesty bar.  Our fine selection of Cornish and international wines have been provided by the wonderful North Coast Wines, an independent wine merchant based in Bude.


Santiago Sauvignon Blanc, Chile*

Refreshingly crisp with citrus aromas of lemon, lime and green apple that mingle with passion fruit and a faint hint of grass. The perfect all-rounder.

Cortefresca Pinot Grigio, Italy

Light, soft and dry with a light minerality and hints of soft stone fruit. An elegant offering that complements white meats and fish perfectly.


Shy Albatros Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand

The Marlborough region is famed for its Sauvignon, and the consistent sunshine has produced great full flavours of elderflower and green pepper with a backbone of tropical fruit.


Madeleine Angevin, Knightor Winery, Cornwall

Winemaker James Thomas was trained in Australia, but originally from The Isles of Scilly and the St Martin Vineyard. James has developed this quintessentially English wine. Crisp and lightly floral with some mineral depth, clean acidity, it's just made for our amazing Cornish produce.


Camel Valley Bacchus, Cornwall 

Aromatic, yet still dry in the modern German style, this cold fermented Cornish wine is fantastic with lighter fish dishes. Numerous accolades place this as one of England’s finest still wines and the quality continues on and on.


Domaine Du Colombier Chablis, France

One of the world’s greatest wines with a strong flinty terroir and long lasting finish. The perfect wine with local fish and white meat. A classy complement to any meal.



Cortefresca Pinot Grigio Blush, Italy

Light and fun with plenty of summer fruit and a nice dry finish.  This medium bodied offering is a perfect pairing for pork dishes or enjoyed late afternoon in the Cornish sunshine.

From the heart of Chile, a soft and rich plum flavour verging on cherry with a silky smooth tannin finish, unbaked and juicy. The perfect red all-rounder.

Pacifico Sur Reserva Carmenere, Chile

Originally a grape variety from Bordeaux, it has been nurtured as 'the' grape variety of Chile. Somewhere between Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon with lots of rich dark red fruit, a touch of vanilla and chocolate.




Van Zijl Coffee Pinotage, S. Africa

This uniquely South African grape offers, as its name suggests, a great flavour of freshly roasted coffee and coco. A fine accompaniment to game or dark chocolate.


 Inacayal Malbec, Argentina

From the foothills of the Andes, a Juicy example of a Mendoza ‘black’ grape. Plummy medium bodied red wine with blackberry, chocolate notes and a nice fruity long finish.


Rioja Excelsus, Vina Herminia, Spain

Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes usually held back for Reserva wines, combined to create this plush wine which really delivers. Intense black cherry with just 9 months in oak to develop traditional smoke and vanilla flavours. Hearty meat dishes are complemented by the Excelsus.

Chateau Civrac Grand Vin, France 

The Cornish-Claret connection! Merlot & cabernet sauvignon blend made in Cotes du Borg, Bordeaux, by Cornish man Mark Hellyar. Lively ripe fruit followed by well structured tannins. The finish of a superior wine produced without compromise.

Chateau de Montmirail Vacqueyras AOC Cuvée des Deux Frères, France

A full rich example of how good French wine really can be with lots of heavy red fruit and a great structure of tannin. A great ‘Beef Wellington’ wine.

Chateau Fayau, Cadillac, France          375ml

Delightful sweet Bordeaux wine from the village of Cadillac is a classic Semillon Sauvignon blend. Pale gold in colour with pale gold apricots and honey at its heart.



Quinta de la Rosa Late Bottled Vintage Port, Portugal         500ml

An exceptionally elegant and complex LBV port right in the middle of the region’s finest terroirs. A fairly dry port with a refreshing level of acidity complementing the  flavours of black fruit, spice and chocolate.



A Word From the Brewer

St Austell Brewery

St Austell Brewery are proud of our bottled beers and we take great care to ensure the flavours, aromas and experience of our bottled ales live up to their cask cousins.

Our bottled beers are brewed in St Austell using locally grown malt and our own unique water supply along with the finest hops and yeast.

Tribute at 4.2% is a Supreme Champion Ale of Cornwall as voted by CAMRA, and the South West's Favourite cask beer, Tribute is a popular favourite across Cornwall, the South West and the rest of the UK. It is brewed using specially grown Cornish Gold Malt and is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, gammon or fish. The ideal alternative to a fine white wine.
